Claire Baines

Case Study

Claire Baines, who was living with Type 2 diabetes, transformed her life and body through a structured weight-management programme.

After years of living with chronic migraines, weight gain, and exhaustion, Claire Baines finally hit her breaking point when she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, at a weight of 20st 8lbs. “When they told me it was Type 2 diabetes, I was shocked,” she says. “I felt ashamed that I’d let things get this far. I knew straight away I didn’t want to rely on medication and needed to make a change.”

My migraines eased within a few weeks, my energy surged and mental fog lifted,” she explained. “Every day I could feel the old me returning; it was like the grey cloud hanging over me was lifting

A life-changing diet plan

Hearing about her friend’s success with The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, which she had previously brushed off as just another diet, she decided to sign up. In just a few months, and with the help of her dedicated consultant, Baines managed to lose five and a half stone and drop five dress sizes.

“My migraines eased within a few weeks, my energy surged and mental fog lifted,” she explained. “Every day I could feel the old me returning; it was like the grey cloud hanging over me was lifting.” By January 2025, Baines was walking 10,000 steps a day and received the news that her Type 2 diabetes was officially in remission. “It was incredible; my sugar levels were finally stable,” she says. “Even the nurses couldn’t believe it, calling me the ‘poster girl’ for diabetic remission!”
